LowestRates.ca is one of Canada’s top rate comparison sites, providing consumers with a one-stop destination for comparing the lowest insurance, mortgage and credit card rates.

The Enemy

As competition stiffens in the rates comparison space, it was evident that LowestRates needed to update their branding and their website presence to help boost their brand presence against incumbent and new competitors.

Give yourself a high five!

We helped refresh the LowestRates brand to keep familiar brand elements in place, while pumping up the interest with a new colour palette and illustration family. This new look was built to augment the existing brand palette, and introduced custom illustration throughout.

We also worked with LowestRates to define a more accessible and friendly tone of voice, both to engage consumers looking for better rates on their platform, as well as separate their personality from other rate comparison sites in the category, who were typically more functionally oriented.

This rebrand was implemented primarily on the LowestRates.ca website, but appears now throughout LowestRates brand touch points.

The new rebranding was only part of the endeavour — as a high-traffic site, visitor conversion was critical to success and important in helping underline the user-friendliness that LowestRates endeavours to offer. Unfortunately the existing site was a rabbit hole mixed with a ball of yarn when it came to site architecture, having been iteratively built and modified over the course of their initial years, and especially when it came to mobile.

To help sort this out, we included a complex site UX/UI redesign, because we're nice people. (Also, we're really good at unravelling balls of yarn and making comfortable digital sweaters that are meant to help businesses perform.)
